Danbury Firefighters Tackle Blaze In Elevator Shaft At La Quinta Hotel

DANBURY, Conn. — Danbury firefighters extinguished a minor fire in the elevator shaft at the La Quinta Inn & Suites on Newtown Road on a frigid Monday afternoon, according to a Facebook post.

The situation at the hotel was under control, and there were no injuries reported in the New Year's Day fire, the fire department said.

An alarm went off at the hotel, located next Exit 8 of I-84 near the Bethel border, at about noon, according to the News-Times.

Guests were evacuated from the hotel, which had smoke in the hallways, the News-Times said.

Guests re-entered after the fire was extinguished, the News-Times said.
